The P8-43 has the same heavy-duty features of all W.H.O. hay grinders. Built tough for
long-lasting performance. Dependable service and a minimum of downtime.
Today's Ag operations require machinery designed for multiple use, quick
changeover and total one-man operation. The P8-43 has the proven owner
benefits to work long hours with as little maintenance as possible. You get
big production day-after-day. When service is needed, most small replacement
parts are off-the-shelf items or can be shipped same day as ordered from the
factory. |
|
This machine is built in the heart of the hay growing and grinding country.
The people at W.H.O. Mfg. know hay grinders. They started building them in
1945 and the first one built is still in use. Since receiving the original
tub grinder patent in 1952, W.H.O. has made many design changes to benefit
the user, but it's still the same machine. Each grinder is built to order
and a variety of options are available to customers. When you own a W.H.O.
grinder and call the factory you can talk to the men who built your machine.
The P8-43 is ideal for hay farmers, feed lot operators and custom hay
processors. |

FEATURES |
| |
Grinds large round or square bales and loose hay (up to 35 tons per hour).
Designed to be used by one operator.
Tub tilts for quick and easy one-man screen change. No lifting of screens up and over the tub edge.
Labor saving hydraulic tub drive, tub tilt up, elevator up or down movement and folding/unfolding of elevator.
Convenient control box gives the operator finger tip control of tub speed, forward and reverse, and electronic sensor control.
Can be pulled with a light truck.
Standard power unit is a 3208 Caterpillar diesel.
26 foot long conveyor with cleated belts to lift material into large trucks.
The extra-long conveyor can be raised, lowered or folded with finger tip
controls. Twin hydraulic cylinders are used for stability. A
cleated belt is standard equipment.

With tub tilted, one man can easily change the one-piece screen. No
lifting of screens over the side of the tub. Safety brace is used to
lock tub in the "up" position.

Electronic sensor keeps the unit from slugging or overloading by slowing
down the tub rotation when the cylinder encounters tough or dense material.
The degree of sensitivity is selected by dial.

The tub is supported on five rollers. Each roller is held by two
pillowblock bearings. Platform mounted rollers are used to center the
tub

The hood completely shields the engine from falling material. Right
and left side doors allow access to gauges and controls. | |
Two axles with leaf springs and standard truck tires help to absorb the shock of big bales.
Drive shafts and cylinder shaft have heavy-duty Dodge roller bearing. Tub and conveyor roller bearings are standard, over-the-counter items.
Cylinder is 43" long, 25" in diameter with ham¬mers extended. 53 free swinging hammers standard (up to 108 possible).
Electronic sensor for smooth, continuous grinding in dense or tough material, helps prevent clogging and overloading engine.
Grain grinding and cob corn kit are available options.
Welded box-type frame is made of 4" square tubing for heavy loads and continuous use.

The radiator is protected by an intake screen. The exhaust is
forward, away from falling material.
The cylinder on the P8-43 is driven by 10 V-belts on the jack shafts.
The belts help reduce vibration and load shock from the cylinder to the
motor.
Side fins inside the tub help move material away from the edge of the tub
and into the path of the cylinder.
Hydraulic controls for elevating, lowering or folding the conveyor are
located near the elevator for easy access.

The tub is driven by Sundstrand planetary gear with a ration of 22:1.
The drive is smooth and steady. Jerking starts are eliminated. |
